The best configuration as far as master/slave settings, where to plug in data cables (ide 0, ide 1, etc.) and BIOS settings?
I have XP Pro.

Configure your hard drive to the master of IDE 0. The two optical drives will not be affected any way that you connect them to your system, you could put one as a slave on IDE 0 and the other as master of IDE 1, or put them as master and slave of IDE 1.
The only thing you would have to worry about is if you had two hard drives. If you have two hard drives on the same IDE channel, they will only work as fast as the slowest hard drive connected. So it is beneficial if one hard drive is slower to put it on the other IDE channel.

Hi. Set your HD up as Master (MA jumper) on 1 ide cable, the two optical drives as MA for the DVD and SL for the CD burner on the other ide, secondary, cable..

The main hard drive has to be the master on IDE 0. I would probably put the DVD player as the slave on IDE 0 and the cd burner as the master on IDE 1. In reality it probably doesn’t make too much difference.

Just plug everything, no setting required unless you have 2 similiar drive

hi
the best way to configured is by USB because XP Pro is play n plug operating system so you do not need any configuration. just make sure you have enough usb slots.
